Reason for improvement(s) and Regulation in breach
Breaches of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 (as amended):

Failure to comply with Schedule 3, Paragraph 15 - Audit

Failure to comply with Regulation 23 – Records of the receipt and supply of prescription products

Failure to comply with Regulation 26(6) – Possession of an unauthorised veterinary medicine (human medicinal product)
Measure(s) to be taken to secure compliance

The practice must carry out a detailed audit of their controlled drugs records on an appropriate frequency e.g. daily in this circumstance – Evidence of the audit must be recorded in the controlled drugs register and any discrepancies must be investigated and recorded immediately.

Full trade names and the total quantities of veterinary medicinal products supplied/administered must be recorded on the relevant client record.

Records of disposed prescription veterinary medicinal products must be kept and updated on a regular basis to aid in stock management and reconciliation of medicines.

Stock should be composed of the appropriate veterinary authorised versions of medicines and quantities of human medicines should not exceed the minimum necessary for appropriate treatment.
Specific evidence must be supplied to the VMD by the compliance deadline to show these measures have been met in full.
