The Chief Executive of UKTI, Nick Baird, is stepping down today to take up an appointment in the private sector. After the normal three-month waiting period, Nick will become Group Corporate Affairs Director at Centrica plc, starting in March. Crispin Simon, currently Managing Director for Trade in UKTI, will take over as Acting Chief Executive until a permanent successor is announced.

The Trade and Investment Minister, Lord Livingston, said:

I am most grateful to Nick for the excellent work he has done to strengthen UKTI in its crucial role of supporting British exporters and attracting foreign investment to the UK, and for helping me to prepare for my new role. I wish him well for the future. I look forward to working with Crispin, who has been with UKTI for two years and has a wealth of private sector experience, in continuing the drive for international growth.
