British Ambassador discusses attack on British Embassy vehicle in Yemen

Following yesterday's attack on a British Embassy vehicle in Sana'a, British Ambassador to Yemen Tim Torlot discusses the UK Government's work with Yemen.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, the Ambassador said that through initiatives such as the Friends of Yemen, the British Government is “working very closely together with the Government of Yemen to support the good work” that they are doing to tackle the many problems it faces.

He also explained that the roots of many of the problems that Yemen faces lie in development and economy issues, and that ninety per cent of Britain’s financial support to Yemen goes into “tackling the root causes of terrorism, and tackling the problems of unemployment and education.”
