Anna Soubry on improving respiratory disease care and outcomes

Health Minister Anna Soubry discusses the importance of improving care and outcomes for people with respiratory disease as the introduction to the Better Value, Better Outcomes national respiratory learning event.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

She discusses:

  • the importance of tackling respiratory disease as one of the five big killers in England
  • the support and leadership provided by the respiratory programme, particularly the outgoing joint National Clinical Directors Professor Sue Hill and Dr Robert Winter
  • the ‘toolbox’ of resources, support and improvement tools that have been developed and are available to help services to improve outcomes for patients and standards of care
  • the importance of strong and effective clinical teams to patient outcomes and her personal experiences as a person with asthma
