We are consulting on the draft order and regulations covering the new programmes of study for English and mathematics at key stage 4, which will take effect in September 2015.

The order and regulations:

  • make schools teach the new programmes of study for key stage 4 English and maths from September 2015
  • extend the period in which schools do not have to follow the national curriculum in key stage 4 science, to cover the 2015 to 2016 academic year

A consultation on the content of the key stage 4 programmes of study for English and maths was run in December 2013 and the government response is now available.
