Epidemiology

In the UK, Zika virus disease is mainly travel-associated, with the majority of cases acquired abroad.

UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) publishes summary statistics on laboratory-confirmed Zika virus disease cases, including reported countries of travel. Detailed epidemiological analyses of imported Zika virus disease cases in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are included in the Travel-associated infections reports - GOV.UK.

Historical epidemiological data and case summaries for Zika virus disease in the UK are available via the National Archives: Zika virus: epidemiology and cases diagnosed in the UK - GOV.UK.

Travel advice

Information and advice for travellers on the risk of Zika virus infection are available from the country information pages on the NaTHNaC website. Information is found in the ‘other risks’ section for affected areas.
