Winter Fuel Payment statistics
Winter Fuel Payment statistics, covering recipients and beneficiary data for Winter 2025 to 2026 and previous annual releases.
Overview
The latest release of Winter Fuel Payment statistics covering winter 2025 to 2026 was published on 15 September 2026.
Statistics are available on Stat-Xplore covering the last 6 years of Winter Fuel Payments. Statistics for winter 2025 to 2026 report on recipients and beneficiaries of Winter Fuel Payment.
Winter Fuel Payments were introduced in 1997 to help older people meet the costs of heating their homes in winter. They are paid in a lump sum each winter.
For winter 2024 to 2025, the Winter Fuel Payment was means-tested and the 2024 to 2025 statistics included a measure of the proportion of the pensioner population who were beneficiaries of a Winter Fuel Payment. This measure is not included in the Official Statistics for Winter Fuel Payment statistics for winter 2025 to 2026 as changes to eligibility meant that most pensioners received a Winter Fuel Payment.
Winter Fuel Payment statistics for winter 2026 to 2027 will be published on the 21 September 2027.
