Teacher demand trajectories and postgraduate trainee need

Annual statistics for teacher demand trajectories and postgraduate initial teacher training (PGITT) recruitment needs, as estimated by the teacher workforce model.

This is an expanded version of the former postgraduate targets publication, starting from 2026 to 2027.

Postgraduate targets (using the teacher workforce model)

Discontinued annual statistics for PGITT targets derived from the teacher workforce model. Targets for 2021 to 2022 were first published in Initial teacher training: trainee number census 2021 to 2022. Previous statistics for 2020 to 2021 used the teacher supply model.

Postgraduate targets (using the teacher supply model) and allocations

Discontinued annual statistics using the teacher supply model (TSM) to estimate PGITT targets and allocate training places to schools and training providers.
