Provisional recruitment to initial teacher training programmes in England in the academic year 2012 to 2013.

The data includes numbers of, and information about, trainees on initial teacher training programmes on the second Wednesday in October 2012 together with a forecast of number expected to commence training in the academic year.

The recruitment data are presented at subject level and separate mainstream and employment-based training programmes. Where recruitment targets are applicable, the contribution to the target is expressed as a percentage.

The data also includes statistics about:

  • the proportion of entrants holding a 2:1 or better classified degree
  • the gender breakdown expressed as percentage
  • the ethnicity breakdown expressed as a percentage
