Learning Support Fund guidance

Information for academic authorities and students on pre-registration healthcare programmes that provide NHS financial support.

The Learning Support Fund gives information about allowances for eligible students on pre-registration healthcare programmes on or after 1 August of each academic year.

The fund is available to eligible students on pre-registration courses in:

  • nursing
  • midwifery
  • most allied health professions
  • dental hygiene or dental therapy

From the 2025 to 2026 academic year, the following new and continuing students will be able to access the Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses (TDAE) provision of the scheme:

  • undergraduate pharmacy
  • pre-registration healthcare science
