IRP: advice on NHS reconfigurations

Independent Reconfiguration Panel advice on the use of ministerial intervention powers over the reconfiguration of NHS services.

Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP) advice is given to the government on matters relating to reconfigurations and changes to NHS services in England. The advice is on the use of ministerial intervention powers over the reconfiguration of NHS services contained in schedule 10a of the NHS Act 2006.

As set out in the Department of Health and Social Care’s Reconfiguring NHS services - ministerial intervention powers, IRP provides advice to support the Secretary of State of Health and Social Care to determine whether to use their call-in power or provide advice about called in reconfiguration proposals.
