Immigration and Asylum Bill 2026
Documents related to the Immigration and Asylum Bill, which was introduced to Parliament on 30 June 2026.
The Immigration and Asylum Bill was announced in The King’s Speech 2026. It will bring into effect the main reforms announced in the asylum and returns policy statement in November 2025 - the most significant policy proposals on asylum in a generation.
The bill will:
- establish a new Independent Immigration Appeals Authority, to speed up the appeals system
- reform the application of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and the modern slavery regime
- establish a single core protection model for refugees and people needing humanitarian protection
- ensure that people contribute to the asylum support they receive, when they have the money to do so
