Contestable Fund

The government is committed to supporting a diverse and pluralistic broadcasting sector that delivers a range of high-quality, UK-originated content.

On 30 December 2017, the government announced its response to the consultation on the Contestable Fund. This confirmed the establishment of a Contestable Fund pilot, and outlined the initial structure of the fund.

On Friday 19 October 2018, the government published a policy paper setting out the final scope of the Contestable Fund. The paper also announced new additions to the Fund, including an Audio Content Fund, development funding and support for UK indigenous language programming.
