British Sign Language (BSL) 5-year plan and yearly updates: Department for Work and Pensions
Information about what the Department for Work and Pensions is doing to improve the use of BSL in its communications. Includes 5-year plan and annual updates.
The BSL Act 2022 requires that named ministerial government departments must report on how they are promoting or facilitating the use of BSL in their communications with the public.
5-year BSL plan
In July 2025, all ministerial departments were asked to produce a 5-year BSL plan, setting out how they plan to improve the use of BSL within their departments.
Yearly updates
Departments will publish an update on progress against their 5-year plan annually.
