All-cause mortality surveillance

Seasonal excess all-cause mortality surveillance and heatwave mortality monitoring reports from PHE.

Public Health England’s (PHE’s) weekly all-cause mortality surveillance helps to detect and report significant weekly excess mortality (deaths) above normal seasonal levels.

We publish a weekly report in the winter season (October to May) and a report each fortnight during the summer months (June to September).

Earlier reports from November 2013 are available on the UK Government Web Archive.

See the Heatwave Plan for England for information about how PHE’s heatwave mortality monitoring helps to inform public health actions during periods of severe heat and heatwave.
