Ask HMRC for help if you need extra support because of your condition or circumstances, including if you have difficulty using the telephone or need information in another format.

Appoint someone to deal with HMRC on your behalf
If you find it difficult to deal with HMRC yourself you can appoint someone to deal with HMRC for you.

Webchat

You’ll need to check if you can get help from the Extra Support Team before you can contact them. If they can help you, you’ll be transferred to an adviser if one is available. Have your National Insurance number with you before you start.

Extra Support Team webchat opening times:

  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 7:30pm
  • Saturday, 8am to 4pm

Closed bank holidays.

The Extra Support Team can only help you with questions about:

  • the Construction Industry Scheme
  • the Horizon Shortfall Scheme
  • National Insurance
  • PAYE
  • Self Assessment
  • Simple Assessment
  • tax for employers, including employers’ PAYE

Contact HMRC using another helpline if:

  • your question is about something else
  • you do not need extra support because of your condition or circumstances
