Applying from outside the UK
You can apply for a faster decision on most visas from outside the UK.
You will be told when you apply if a priority service is available.
How long it takes
Using the priority service means you’ll usually get a decision within 5 working days for most visa applications. Family and settlement applications usually take 30 working days.
Using the super priority service means you’ll usually get a decision by the end of the next working day.
How to get a faster decision
When you apply, you’ll be told whether you need to prove your identity either:
- in person by attending an appointment at a visa application centre
- online using the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app
If you attend a visa application centre
Check if your visa application centre offers a priority or super priority service for the visa you’re applying for.
If a service is available, select ‘priority’ or ‘super priority’ when you book your appointment.
If you use the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app
If a priority or super priority service is available for the visa you’re applying for, you’ll be able to select it during your online application.
