Call to run a project to pilot activity which will broker opportunities to encourage and increase work experience, work placements, traineeships, apprenticeships and employment opportunities for ex-offenders, particularly within SMEs.

Details

Projects should clearly outline how they will:

  • Work closely with Humber based prisons to influence skills provision / curriculum within prisons locally to ensure it meets the needs of local employers

  • Support businesses, removing barriers and brokering opportunities for ex-offenders including work experience, work placements, traineeships, apprenticeships and employment opportunities

  • Match employer demand for particular skills with people currently in prison to provide opportunities for them to gain employment as soon as they complete their sentence, thereby reducing re-offending and meeting the needs of local employers

  • Develop innovative approaches to engaging employers in the justice agenda,

  • Work across the Humber LEP area, engaging with LEP partners, appropriate delivery organisations and stakeholders to deliver a responsive package of interventions with SMEs

  • Increase SME influence regarding prison commissioned work to support individual organisations

  • Offer a personalised support service for employers to ensure they receive advice and guidance regarding any former prisoner engaged within their employ

  • Facilitate and assist in the development of improved and joined up business influences that assist the whole of the Humber prison community.

Value

Approximately £500,000 of funding is available.

Deadlines

Outline application deadline: 16/01/2019.

Completion date

The project must be completed no later than 3 years and 6 months after the proposed start date.
