CLOSED: Apprenticeship Progression in New Anglia (OC24S19P1297)

Call to run a project which will stimulate activity to increase the number, range and quality of apprenticeship options for those who are already employed and starting their first Apprenticeship or who are progressing from an intermediate, advanced, higher or degree level apprenticeship where there is a perceived or evidenced shortage of skills.

This call is now closed. Please do not submit an application for this call. The information provided on this page is for reference purposes only.

Details

In New Anglia, half of businesses expect to have difficulty in the near future recruiting to positions requiring a Level 3 qualification or above. Despite this fact, many businesses are not actively closing skills gaps; only 31 percent of employers offer training which leads to nationally recognised qualifications, and 46 percent would like to provide more training than they currently do.

To address the low levels of qualifications across New Anglia, and to give people the best chance of continuing to develop their skills, this call will seek to increase the number, level, quality and range of Apprenticeships whilst stimulating demand from employers and individuals across Norfolk and Suffolk. We also require focused support in the areas where the start numbers are particularly low including, North Norfolk (8% of Norfolk starts), Great Yarmouth (9.5%, Norfolk), Norwich, Forest Heath (5.3% of Suffolk starts) and Babergh (7%, Suffolk).

Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals which will support employees within businesses across a range of sectors, particularly small and medium sized enterprises, to provide additional apprenticeships with the intention of filling skills gaps which have been identified.
