Apply for a Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) appointment online. You can pay by credit or debit card or use a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) pre-funded account.
You need an up-to-date browser to use this service.
From 26 October 2015, if an insurance company states that an accident damaged car can be repaired, it won’t need a VIC test in order for you to apply for log book (V5C).

Before you start
Once DVSA gets your application they will contact you by email so they can take payment on your credit or debit card. You can also pay by pre-funded account.
The person making the application must be the account holder or a specified delegate on the account.
You’ll then be told when your VIC (Vehicle Identity Check) appointment is.
Whoever makes the application must be the card holder. You’ll also need the car’s registration number when making your payment.
VIC test fees
|Vehicle Identity Check (VIC)||£41.00|
Normal opening hours for VIC sites are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4.30pm on Friday.
