The Science & Innovation Network (SIN) in Philippines works to encourage strategic relationships with local and national government, academic institutions, business associations and organisations in science, technology and innovation (ST&I).

The UK and Philippines have collaborated in science and innovation through various initiatives previously supported by the Newton Agham (science) Programme and other funding mechanisms.

ST&I activities in the Philippines aim to develop the bilateral relationship and recommend the UK as a partner of choice. Activities supported concentrate on partnerships, assist policy alignment, and influence and encourage development.

SIN Philippines works on:

  • partnership: build and enable ST&I collaboration, including existing partnerships and exploring new opportunities
  • policy: encourage alignment on science policies to enable joint work, share best practice and support UK values
  • influence: increase understanding and appreciation of UK’s excellence and leadership in ST&I through strategic communication, events and campaigns
  • development: support projects and programmes in thematic priorities, addressing international development goals, matching UK expertise to local and regional need for mutual benefit
