You can get a decision on your visa within 10 working days if you apply to extend or switch to a tier 2 visa using the Tier 2 Priority Service.

You can use the service for the following visas:

  • Tier 2 (General)
  • Tier 2 (Minister of religion)
  • Tier 2 (Sportsperson)
  • Tier 2 (Intra company transfer)

Before you apply

You’ll first need to send a request to use this service.

Fill in the request for inclusion form and send it to the email address on the form.

Only the first 30 requests received each day after 8:30am (Monday to Friday) are accepted - you’ll get an email saying if you’ve been successful.

If your family member is also applying, their application will be counted with yours if you apply at the same time.

Apply

You should send your visa application and all supporting documents within 24 hours if you’re accepted for this service.

To apply, fill in the relevant form:

Send your application and documents to the address on the form by registered post or courier.

You’ll get a decision on your application within 10 working days of your application being received - you’ll be contacted if it will take longer.

Family members (‘dependants’)

You should send applications for family members (‘dependants’) who’ll be staying with you in the UK in the same envelope as your application.

Dependant applications sent in different envelopes will be considered separately - they’ll be charged the full application fee if their applications don’t arrive on the same day as the main application.

Biometric information

You’ll need to have your fingerprints and photograph (known as ‘biometric information’) taken at a Post Office as part of your application - this will cost £19.20.

You and any dependants must do this within 2 working days of receiving the biometric notification letter.

You’ll receive the letter after your application is accepted onto the priority application scheme, you’ve paid the fee and sent your application.
