You can get a replacement MOT certificate from any MOT centre if you’ve lost or damaged the original.

How to get a replacement

  1. Contact an MOT centre - it doesn’t have to be the one that did the MOT.

  2. Give them the vehicle registration (number plate) and V5C vehicle registration certificate (log book) reference number.

  3. The MOT centre will give you a replacement certificate.

You can’t apply for a replacement online.

How much it costs

The MOT centre can charge you £10 or half the full MOT test fee - whichever is the lower amount.

The fee is different for heavy goods vehicles and public service vehicles.
