Assessing: COMPASS: making amendments: selecting the material to amend

As a case progresses you will need to make amendments to the COMPASS record from time to time. To amend the case record you should begin by selecting the case from the index (IHTM31112). From the Amend menu on the main toolbar, select ‘Estate’. This opens the Estate Details window.

From the Estate Details window, select the appropriate:

  • Entry (IHTM31011)
  • Assessment group (IHTM31012) (NIOP/IOP/IOP(W))
  • Property type (standard, joint, nominated, foreign)

The default is set at Entry A, NIOP, Standard.

You can use the buttons on the right to access the appropriate records for

The Entry

To change the name of any Entries apart from the free estate Entry A

The agent

To amend or delete (and re-enter a new agent if necessary) the agent’s details

Any liable people

You do not have to include details of a liable person, unless there is no agent or that person requests to receive copies of calculations. In this case, you must indicate them as ‘nominated’ (to receive calculations).

If there is both an agent and a nominated liable person, COMPASS will print two sets of calculations, one for each address.

Assets

To amend the details of, or add or delete assets and liabilities (IHTM31132).

Reliefs

To amend the details of, or add or delete reliefs and exemptions (IHTM31135).
