Contact the police if you think a child is in immediate danger.
Use this service to report serious teacher misconduct in England if you’re:
- a member of the public
- an employer
You can also use this service to report serious misconduct if a teacher has resigned or been dismissed.
Serious misconduct is any behaviour that could result in a teacher being stopped from teaching. This is known as a ‘prohibition order.’
If teacher misconduct relates to the risk of harm to a child, you must make a referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Complain to the school, college or council
Before you report a teacher, complain to:
- the school or sixth form college
- the board of governors
- your local council
If you’re not satisfied with the result, use this service.
Before you start
You’ll need to provide your contact details and information about the teacher you are reporting.
You can also provide evidence, for example:
- signed witness statements
- previous complaints against the teacher
- communications between you and the school about the teacher
