Due to the nature of the work, dealing with last wishes etc, it is seen as very important that employees gain the appropriate qualifications.

Because of the quite specialist qualifications that are required, an apprenticeship allows you to learn from the experts and get your knowledge up to scratch quickly.

Types of apprenticeships

There are 2 types of funeral operations and services apprenticeships.

Intermediate level apprenticeship

You could train in roles like:

  • funeral operative
  • funeral arranger

Advanced level apprenticeship

You could train in roles like:

  • funeral director

Apply for a funeral operations and services apprenticeship

You can become an apprentice in England if you’re:

  • 16 or over
  • eligible to work in England
  • not in full-time education
