Types of apprenticeships that you can apply for in dental nursing.

A dental nurse provides ‘chair-side support’ for the dental team, which includes dentists, dental therapists, hygienists and technicians.

Training opportunities

The role of a dental nurse is regulated by the General Dental Council (GDC). You may be able to register with the GDC upon satisfactory completion of a recognised qualification, which includes the L3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (QCF). The average duration for completion of this apprenticeship is 18 months.

This is an advanced level apprenticeship. You can train as a dental nurse.

Apply for a dental nursing apprenticeship

You can become an apprentice in England if you’re:

  • 16 or over
  • eligible to work in England
  • not in full-time education
