Correcting your date of birth with Companies House

How to correct the date of birth for a director or person with significant control (PSC) if it was filed incorrectly with Companies House.

It’s important that your date of birth registered with Companies House is correct. To complete identity verification requirements for Companies House, your details must be correct and match our records.

You’ll need to submit a replacement for the original filing that contained the incorrect date of birth. How to do this depends on which filing was used to register the director or PSC with Companies House. You can check this in the company’s filing history on the Companies House register.

After you’ve submitted a replacement, you’ll need to wait for the change to be processed before you can complete your identity verification requirements. If you’re authenticated to file online for the company, you can sign in to WebFiling and view the director or PSC’s details to see if their date of birth has been corrected.

It may take up to 2 weeks for a correction to be processed, as we’re currently experiencing high demand.

If a director or PSC was added as part of company registration (IN01)

You’ll need to complete and submit 2 paper forms.

  1. The ‘Replace a document not meeting requirements (RP01)’ form.
  2. The section of the ‘Application to register a company (IN01)’ form for the director or PSC whose date of birth needs to be corrected. If they are a director and PSC, you must include both sections of the form.

You must also include proof of their correct date of birth, for example a photocopy of a driving licence or passport.
