How to contact the Fair Work Agency (FWA)
Report modern slavery or serious labour exploitation
You’re being seriously abused or exploited at work if you believe you’re being controlled, threatened or manipulated. This is called ‘abuse of power’ and could be an indicator of modern slavery.
If you’re a victim, or you think you know someone who’s a victim, use the free modern slavery and labour exploitation referral phone line to tell someone.

Phone 0800 432 0804.
Calls are free and will be answered between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. You can still call outside of these hours and leave a voice message.
This is not an emergency service number. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999 and ask for the police.

You can also tell us about modern slavery or labour exploitation by:
- using the online form
- emailing contact@fairworkagency.gov.uk
Try to include:
- what the abuse is
- where it’s happening, or happened
- any relevant pictures or documents
- your name and contact details – we’ll only use these to ask you questions about your report, if needed
You do not need to tell us who you are, but we can support you better if we can contact you.
Information you give will be in confidence and will help protect workers from exploitation.
Complain about problems with pay or work rights
Examples of problems with pay or work rights could include:
- working hours
- not being paid the National Minimum Wage
- an issue with an employment agency
- an issue with a gangmaster agency – these are employment providers to agricultural and food processing sectors
