16 to 19 capital programmes

This guide contains information on the following capital programmes for 16 to 19 year olds:

  • sixth-form colleges Building Condition Improvement Fund
  • sixth-form colleges Devolved Formula Capital
  • 16 to 19 Demographic Growth Capital fund 2013 to 2015
  • independent specialist providers Building Improvement Fund

For each fund you can find out who the fund is aimed at and whether bids are currently being accepted. There are also updates for those who have received funding in the current round.

Sixth-form college Building Condition Improvement Fund

The sixth-form Building Condition Improvement Fund (BCIF) is now closed and has been replaced by the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).

Sixth-form college Devolved Formula Capital

The sixth-form college Devolved Formula Capital allocations for 2015 to 2016 are available on this page, included within the Devolved formula capital and school condition allocations: 2015 to 2018.

16 to 19 Demographic Growth Capital Fund (DGCF)

Between 2011 and 2015 the Demographic Growth Capital Fund created over 10,000 places.

The £150 million fund created new places for young people aged 16 to 19 in school sixth-forms, including in academies and sixth-form colleges. The fund also provided new places for young people aged 16 to 25 with special educational needs in school sixth-forms, sixth form colleges and further education colleges.

The 4-year fund concludes in April 2015.

EFA is no longer accepting applications to this fund. The DGCF 2013 to 2015 allocations are available on GOV.UK.

The DGCF reconciliation and progress report form and the use of funds form are available for providers with current projects.

Independent specialist provider Building Improvement Fund

The purpose of the independent specialist provider Building Improvement Fund (BIF) for 2013 to 2015 is to enable independent specialist providers (ISPs) to apply for capital funding to contribute towards the improvement of their buildings.

EFA is no longer accepting applications to this fund.

The ISP BIF reconciliation and progress report template and the final payment form is now available for ISPs with current projects.
