UKTI organised the first event on Cultural and Visitor Attractions in the Portuguese market

With the aim to showcase the UK’s experience in museums, heritage and visitor attractions the UKTI team in Lisbon organised an event on Cultural and Visitor Attractions last 26th June to promote business partnerships between the UK and Portuguese entities. The event was co-hosted by the British Ambassador – Jill Gallard and the Portuguese Secretary of State for Culture – Jorge Barreto Xavier, followed by the presentations of an UK delegation composed by 6 companies to a Portuguese audience of over 50 attendees that varied from museums, municipalities, theme parks and other visitors attractions.
In Portugal the tourism sector has been flourishing and has become a central pillar in the Portuguese economy apart from current the economic crisis. Accounting for 9.2% of GDP and with 4.2 million visitors to Palaces, Museums and other Heritage sites there is a growing demand in the market to provide and promote better offer and new experiences to local and foreign visitors to Portugal. Being the UK home to many world-class visitor attractions and a global leader in the creation and operation of visitor attractions such as museums, galleries, science centres, heritage sites, zoos, aquaria and theme parks, UKTI invited the following UK companies to share their expertise and know-how in this sector: Azureus Design, CodSteaks, Paragon Creative, Ray Hole Architects, QR Languages, Zooid.
