UK welcomes new Strategic Leadership Programme for Kenyan Police developed by the National Police Service (NPS) in partnership with Kenyatta University and the UK’s Bramshill College of Policing.

The British High Commissioner, Dr. Christian Turner, today hailed the opening of the new National Police Staff College Strategic Leadership Programme as a landmark step in the development of a new generation of Kenyan Police leaders.
The Programme, the first of its kind in Kenya, has been developed by the National Police Service (NPS) in partnership with Kenyatta University and the UK’s Bramshill College of Policing.
It will combine strategic policing skills training with a diploma and Masters degree in Leadership and Security Management. Candidates will also undergo strategic leadership training, based on the UK’s International Strategic Leadership Programme (ISLP), which delivers contemporary concepts of best practice in policing form around the world.
Speaking at the official opening at Loresho Police Training College, Dr Turner said:
The establishment of a Strategic Leadership Command Programme (SLCP) is a hugely significant step in the development of a new generation of Kenyan Police Leaders - and one which the UK is very proud to support. We are delighted to help establish this first, landmark programme, and to fund the leadership training component, to be delivered by the UK Bramshill College of Policing.
Dr. Turner said that a reformed National Police Service remained key to mitigating the risk of conflict and violence in Kenya.
Touching on the new Security Amendments Bill, the High Commissioner suggested winning the trust of communities needed to lie at the heart of any successful long-term strategy aimed at tackling insecurity.
