UK supports exciting new educational opportunities in Uganda
British High Commissioner took part in Premier Skills School Enterprise Challenge

On 18 February, British High Commissioner HE Alison Blackburne and Peter Brown, Head of the British Council in Uganda, attended an event to launch the start of the competition stage of the Premier Skills Uganda programme’s School Enterprise Challenge in Kampala. The event took place at Kabira Country Club.
The High Commissioner was impressed by the range of ideas and skills on display at the event, which brought together children from various Ugandan schools. The UK works closely with local and international partners in Uganda to help improve the quality and availability of education, through programmes delivered by the High Commission, DFID and the British Council.

The Enterprise Challenge is a pilot programme which uses football to engage young people in business enterprise. It is a new strand of the British Council and Premier League’s hugely successful Premier Skills project.
Kibuli Secondary School, St. Lawrence Horizon Campus, St. Mary’s Kisubi and Wakiso School for the deaf competed at the event on 18 February. Each school presented a business strategy for its own fantasy football club.
