UK at the First European Film Festival in Havana

From 11 to 18 June the First European Film Festival was held in Havana at La Rampa cinema and Palacio del Segundo Cabo venues

The event screened 15 films and four documentaries from countries like Germany, Austria, Belgium, Slovakia, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

UK Macbeth, 2015 British drama based on the play by William Shakespeare, in honour of this year’s commemoration of the 400th anniversary of his death, was projected. The film directed by Justin Kurzel, has the performances of Michael Fassbender as Macbeth and Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth.

The film which was filmed for seven weeks on locations in England and Scotland has received positive reviews for the interpretation of Fassbender and the adaptation of the play. It was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2015 and Best European Film at the 2016 Goya Awards.
