I am delighted to have returned to Uzbekistan after a gap of 16 years and to see for myself the changes which have occurred here in my absence. My very useful conversations with a range of Uzbek Ministries and others have reflected the Uzbek Government’s determination to develop further the country’s economy by attracting overseas investors of the highest calibre in an impressive range of sectors. As co-chair of UBTIC I look forward to working with the British Embassy in Tashkent to encourage more British companies to investigate the Uzbek market and see for themselves the opportunities which are opening up.
