"Quirky, otherworldly" UK comedy to be featured at EU Film Festival
The British High Commission is proud to announce 'Up There' is this year's featured UK film at the European Union Film Festival in Ottawa.

Written and directed by Zam Salim, this quirky comedy stars Burn Gorman as Martin, a thirty-something dead man, who’s struggling to find happiness on Earth in his dead-end job in the city, where he welcomes the recently deceased into the afterlife. Tired of spying on his wife (who can’t actually see him), Martin is desperate to get ‘Up There’. But when he’s thrown together with the relentless blabbermouth, Rash, and they lose a new arrival, the pair must give chase, throwing Martin’s plans into deep disarray and landing him in a humdrum seaside town.
The 2013 European Union Film Festival (EUFF) features international, award-winning, and Oscar-submitted films from 27 countries across the European Union, presented in their original languages with English subtitles.
“This year, the EUFF has an amazing selection of films,” said Tom McSorley, Executive Director of the Canadian Film Institute. “The line-up is particularly outstanding with some of the highest quality films we’ve ever had. It’s an excellent sampling of the extraordinary talent that European cinema has to offer.
The 28th European Union Film Festival, launches 14 November and continues until December 1st at the Auditorium of the Library and Archives Building, 395 Wellington St., in Ottawa. Visit www.euff.ca or www.cfi-icf.ca for complete film lineup.
All tickets and passes are available at the door every night of the festival: $12 for the general public and $8 for members seniors, and students. Five-film passports are also available to CFI members for $35. Memberships are offered at $15 for a year’s subscription.
