Pacific Climate Change Roundtable 3-5 July

The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) in partnership with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the University of the South Pacific will host this year’s Pacific Climate Change Roundtable (PCCR) in Nadi, Fiji, from 3rd to 5th July

Over 100 participants from across the region and internationally are expected to attend what SPREP Director General, David Sheppard, has described as the “premiere climate change coordination mechanism for the Pacific.”

This year the theme of the meeting will be: building resilience to climate change through collaboration. Discussions will address core issues affecting Pacific Island Countries, including: resilience against climate change impacts and disaster risks, innovative tools for adaptation and mitigation, the “Green and Blue economy”, sustainable development and climate change financing.

The UK joined SPREP in 2012 and looks forward to playing an active part in the discussions. The delegation will be led by British High Commissioner to Fiji, Steven Chandler, supported by representatives from our missions in Suva, Wellington and Auckland.UKTI will also be showcasing the best of British industry in the field of renewable energy during the trade exhibition, which runs in parallel to the PCCR.
