The KSF has a successful reputation at playing competitive small-sided indoor football but has not yet played full-sided outdoor football. Lt Colonel Jones has come up with the new initiative, in partnership with Lieutenant General Kadri Kastrati, Commander KSF, and he will initially act as manager and senior coach for the KSF representative team.

To kick off the new initiative, open trials have been held over the last few weeks inviting all KSF members who wished to be considered for the team. Trials were held across the KSF and Kosovo, providing opportunities for all and in the end, over 100 members of the various Units participated. From the original large number of individuals, 27 players’ names have gone forward for further consideration and final selection for the KSF representative team.

Over the next six months it is very much envisaged that the KSF team will play games against their neighbouring countries armed forces including Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro. Also one of the highlights in the playing programme this year will be a game between KSF and a KFOR team planned in June 14 in Pristina Stadium.

Lieutenant Colonel Jones said:

I am really looking forward in supporting the creation of a full size representative football team for KSF, who will play teams from outside their boarders. I know the players are really looking forward to the challenge.
