This year’s report contains the annual prison performance ratings for 2025/26 calculated using data from the prison performance framework covering 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
Each prison has been assigned one of four ratings to reflect annual performance:
4: Outstanding performance
3: Good performance
2: Performance of concern
1: Performance of serious concern
Pre-release access
The Annual Prison Performance Ratings publication is produced and handled by the Ministry of Justice’s (MoJ) analytical professionals and production staff. Pre-release access of up to 24 hours is granted to the following persons:
