Statistics on freight handled by UK major ports.

When comparing July to September 2017 with July to September 2016, we see that:

  • total freight tonnage through UK major ports decreased by 2% to 117.6 million tonnes
  • total volume of unitised traffic through UK major ports decreased 1% to 6.8 million units

When comparing the rolling year to September 2017 with September 2016, we see that:

  • total tonnage through UK major ports decreased 2% to 470.6 million tonnes
  • total volume of unitised traffic decreased 1% to 23.9 million units

Detailed final annual statistics for 2017 will be published in summer 2018.
