Statistics on freight handled at major UK sea ports for July to September 2019.

When comparing July to September 2019 with July to September 2018 through UK major ports:

  • total freight tonnage fell by 4% to 112.8 million tonnes
  • inward tonnage fell by 4% to 72.7 million tonnes
  • outward tonnage fell by 4% to 40.1 million tonnes
  • total volume of unitised traffic fell by 4% to 6.6 million units
  • inward units fell by 3% to 3.4 million units
  • outward units fell by 4% to 3.1 million units

When comparing the rolling year to September 2019 with September 2018 through UK major ports:

  • total tonnage increased by 1% to 471.0 million tonnes
  • total volume of unitised traffic decreased by 2% to 23.4 million units
