  1. Updated to second edition. Figures on the number of police officers on recuperative and adjusted duties have been updated, following an internal review of the code used to produce these statistics. Although the data collection was designed to capture information on police officers only, there were instances where the information had been supplied for other worker types. The code did not filter out other worker types and has been amended to prevent this from happening in future. Relevant sections of Chapter 6 on recuperative and adjusted duties have been updated to cover data for police officers only, as has the accompanying data table (Table W3). This correction does not affect any other figures and the headline figures on the size of the police workforce remain the same.

  2. First published.
