Details

The perinatal, children and young people’s mental health profile:

  • supports understanding at a local level of:
    • mental health during pregnancy and up to 2 years after birth
    • children and young people’s mental health
  • supports an intelligence-based approach to service planning, commissioning and delivery
  • provides a set of indicators that allow planners, providers and stakeholders to profile their area and benchmark against similar populations

The July 2026 update includes new data for the financial year ending in 2024 on secondary mental health services for under 18s, for England, regions (NHS and statistical), integrated care boards and upper tier local authorities including:

  • new referrals
  • attended contacts
  • inpatient stays

The perinatal, children and young people’s mental health profile is classified as official statistics in development.
