The perinatal, children and young people’s mental health profile:
- supports understanding at a local level of:
- mental health during pregnancy and up to 2 years after birth
- children and young people’s mental health
- supports an intelligence-based approach to service planning, commissioning and delivery
- provides a set of indicators that allow planners, providers and stakeholders to profile their area and benchmark against similar populations
The January 2026 release updates on secondary mental health services for under 18s for England, regions (NHS and statistical), integrated care boards and upper tier local authorities including:
- new referrals and attended contacts indicators - addition of sex and deprivation breakdown
- new referrals, attended contacts and inpatient stays - revisions for the period April 2022 to March 2023 due to revised mid-year population estimates
- new referrals, attended contacts and inpatient stays - addition of notes and removal of data for areas impacted by data completeness
