The Older Workers Statistical Information Booklet provides data on the position of older people in the labour market in 2011, with the majority of data covering quarter 2, April to June 2011.

The booklet compares outcomes for older people (aged 50 to 64 or 65+) with outcomes for other age groups at a UK and regional level. It also offers a range of data by:

  • employment
  • unemployment and inactivity
  • employment types
  • qualifications
  • industry and occupation

Statistics are compared by age, gender, ethnicity and disability.

DWP has published this series to fulfill a government commitment to publish information on employment statistics for older people.
