Main data sources used

The main data sources used to produce estimates of take-up are:

• Family Resources Survey – used to model the population in private households entitled to income-related benefits

• DWP and local authority benefit records data – the basis of the Work and Pensions Longitudinal Study

• DWP Statistical Summaries – providing the counts of benefit recipients and typical amounts received
