Details

Section 18 of the Climate Change Act requires that a final statement is laid before Parliament in respect of each budgetary period. The statement for the first budgetary period covering 2008 to 2012 shows that, over the first budgetary period, UK emissions as calculated by the net UK carbon account were 2,982 MtCO2e. This is 36 MtCO2e below the first carbon budget cap of 3,018 MtCO2e. On average this means emissions as measured by the net carbon account were 23.6% lower than 1990 base year emissions
