Update on recommendations from 2019 to 2020

This update shows progress against last year’s recommendations arising from the standards report 2019 to 2020, covering the:
- NHS Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme (FASP)
- NHS Infectious Diseases in Pregnancy Screening (IDPS) Programme
- NHS Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia (SCT) Screening Programme
Recommendation 1
Public health commissioning teams to work with non-submitting providers in the North and South regions to enable data submission in screening year 2020 to 2021 (standards FASP-S01, FASP-S02).
Update
SCT NBO system Recommendations updated for screening year 2020 to 2021.
The number of non-submitting providers reduced from 16 to 7 for standard FASP-S01 and from 9 to 6 for standard FASP-S02.
Recommendation 2
Public health commissioning teams should continue to monitor exception reports to provide assurance that all women are accounted for (standards FASP-S01, FASP-S02, IDPS-S01, IDPS-S02, IDPS-S03, SCT-S01).

Recommendation 5
Public health commissioning teams to work with non-submitting providers in the Midlands and East and the North to enable data submission in screening year 2020 to 2021 (standard IDPS-S04).

Recommendation closed as all providers submitted data in screening year 2020 to 2021. New recommendation made in 2020 to 2021 around data quality.
Recommendation 6
Public health commissioning teams to work with providers in the North and the South to meet as a minimum the acceptable threshold (standards IDPS-S04a, IDPS-S04b, IDPS-S04c).

Recommendation 19

Recommendation 20
Public health commissioning teams to work with providers in all regions to meet as a minimum the acceptable threshold (standards IDPS-S07a, IDPS-S07b).

Recommendation closed as the number of providers not meeting the acceptable threshold decreased in screening year 2020 to 2021 compared to screening year 2019 to 2020.
The number of babies not receiving vaccination within 24 hours reduced from 30 to 15, and those not receiving immunoglobulin within 24 hours reduced from 9 to 5.
Recommendation 21
Public health commissioning teams to work with providers to make sure all centres treating babies implement the SCT newborn outcomes (NBO) system (standard SCT-S09).
