Details

These Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) quarterly publications provide statistics on households affected by the benefit cap and include:

  • cumulative and point-in-time numbers of households capped
  • number of households that were previously capped but have moved off the cap

  1. Updated "Benefit cap: number of households capped to November 2025". In the main stories, the final figures are for the number of people on Universal Credit between August 2025 and October 2025, not November 2025. Replaced figure 2 "Movement of Benefit Cap households on Universal Credit on and off the Benefit Cap, Great Britain, August 2025 to November 2025" with a new version. Corrected the title of figure 9 which shows the proportion of Universal Credit households capped at local authority level at November 2025, not August 2025. Replaced table 7 in the data tables.
