MCA business plan 2022 to 2023

Announces the publication of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s business plan for 2022 to 2023.

Robert Courts MP

I am proud to announce the publication of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s (MCA) business plan for 2022 to 2023.

The MCA does vital work to save lives at sea, regulate ship standards and protect the marine environment. The agency will be playing its part in encouraging and enabling the industry to move towards zero carbon emissions from shipping and to prepare the way to regulate the safety of autonomous shipping.

The business plan sets out how the agency will:

  1. Build on its success as one of the world’s best performing flag and coastal states, with a modern and progressive approach to how it regulates.

  2. Promote the unlocking of sustainable growth in the maritime economy through support for the new shipping concierge service.

  3. Continue the provision of its high-quality search and rescue capability, as well as the survey and inspection of ships.

At the international level, the MCA will work alongside other government departments to represent the UK’s interests at the International Maritime Organization.

The work of the MCA will contribute to the success of the Department for Transport’s Maritime 2050 strategy and its Transport decarbonisation plan.

The business plan will be available on GOV.UK and copies will be placed in the libraries of both Houses.
